About this Meeting
A chapter meeting is one of the most important meetings that DSA-LA holds throughout the year. It is a space for all members to come together and make important decisions about the future of the organization. At this meeting, DSA-LA members will be debating and voting on a few proposals — described below.
Who can attend?
This Meeting is open to all DSA-LA Members in Good Standing*. It doesn’t matter if you’re brand new, super involved already, or somewhere in between. We are a democratic, member-driven organization, and if you’re a member, your voice matters! We don’t just want decisions to be made by the people who have time to make it to the most meetings, we want decisions to be made by all of us!
Please note: In order to make sure that we can thoroughly screen in order to admit members easily, people who are not Members in Good Standing must join or renew their dues by 11:59pm on Thursday, March 11th. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to verify membership if people join after that date.
Additionally, members must RSVP by 11:59pm on Wednesday, March 17th in order to receive a link to join. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide a link to join to members who RSVP after that date.
How will voting be handled?
The meeting will be run using rules of order as required by our bylaws. Due to the large number of people who will be participating, voting will be handled using Zoom’s “Poll” feature. It is partially for this reason that the meeting will only be open to members. There will be no vote-by-proxy option, but members who are unable to attend can still have their perspectives shared with all members via the DSA-LA website (see below).
What if I can’t attend?
Even if you are unable to make it in person, you can still have your voice heard! Fill out this form with your comment or statement regarding any of the agenda items. At least 1 week before the meeting, comments will be published to the chapter website.
What accessibility features will this meeting have?
Simultaneous interpretation will be available in Spanish. This meeting will be hosted online and accessible to any member with a phone or computer who can access internet. (Note, while it will be possible to dial in using a cell-phone only, the meeting is intended to be accessed using the Zoom app. Members who wish to see the text of resolutions displayed, participate in debate, or vote, will need to join the meeting using the Zoom app.)
(*Members in Good Standing just means members who are current on dues. If you aren’t sure about your status, the registration form will let you know if you need to take any further action.)

This item has been included by a vote of the DSA-LA Steering Committee. For the past few months, our chapter has participated in a process that has led to the drafting of these proposed bylaws for a formal “California DSA”. Now, all chapters in the state, including our own, get to debate whether or not we will approve the proposed bylaws and form a state organization that will be governed by them. If at least half of the chapters in the state approve, it will become official. This appears as a resolution because it is not about changing our own bylaws. ¿Qué es una reunión del capítulo?
Una reunión de capítulo es una de las reuniones más importantes que DSA-LA celebra a lo largo del año. Es un espacio para que todos los miembros se reúnan y tomen decisiones importantes sobre el futuro de la organización. En esta reunión, los miembros de DSA-LA debatirán y votarán algunas propuestas, que se describen a continuación.
¿Quién puede asistir?
Esta reunión está abierta a todos los miembros de la DSA-LA en regla*. No importa si eres nuevo, si ya estás muy involucrado o si estás en algún punto intermedio. Somos una organización democrática, dirigida por sus miembros, y si eres un miembro, tu voz importa. No queremos que las decisiones sean tomadas sólo por las personas que tienen tiempo para asistir a la mayoría de las reuniones, queremos que las decisiones sean tomadas por todos nosotros.
Por favor, ten en cuenta: Para asegurarnos de que podemos hacer una selección exhaustiva para admitir a los miembros con facilidad, las personas que no son miembros en regla deben unirse o renovar sus cuotas antes de las 11:59 pm del jueves 11 de marzo. ¿Cómo se llevará a cabo la votación?

No habrá opción de voto por delegación, pero los miembros que no puedan asistir podrán compartir sus puntos de vista con todos los miembros a través del sitio web de la DSA-LA (véase más abajo).
¿Y si no puedo asistir?
Aunque no pueda asistir en persona, puede hacer oír su voz. Rellene este formulario con su comentario o declaración sobre cualquiera de los puntos del orden del día. Al menos una semana antes de la reunión, los comentarios se publicarán en el sitio web del capítulo.
¿Qué características de accesibilidad tendrá esta reunión?

Este punto ha sido incluido por un voto del Comité Directivo de DSA-LA. Durante los últimos meses, nuestro capítulo ha participado en un proceso que ha llevado a la redacción de estos estatutos propuestos para una “ASD de California” formal. Ahora, todos los capítulos del estado, incluido el nuestro, tienen que debatir si aprobamos o no los estatutos propuestos y formamos una organización estatal que se rija por ellos. Si al menos la mitad de los capítulos del estado lo aprueban, se hará oficial. Esto aparece como una resolución porque no se trata de cambiar nuestros propios estatutos.
