DSA is canvassing for Hugo in the general election, led this time by our own Labor Committee! It is now a two person race between Hugo Soto-Martínez and Mitch O’Farrell, and we are in the final stretch to November 8th.
Hugo Soto-Martínez’s candidacy is an incredible opportunity to elect a longtime socialist union organizer and core chapter member; to activate hundreds of members in a diverse, renter-heavy district; and to keep building coalitions with labor and broad social justice campaigns across Los Angeles.
We will meet at Echo Park Lake at 9:30am. If you’ve never canvassed before: we will provide you with a thorough training, pair you up with someone experienced/confident, and make sure you are comfortable going out. Don’t worry — we got you!
After the canvass, back at the park we will have a picnic and swap event along with the campaign. If you have a few good-condition items that need a new home, plant cuttings, great books you no longer need, etc — bring them! And a dish to share if you’d like.
You will need:
- a fully charged smartphone
- water, a hat (optional, but a good idea)
- a mask — N95, KN95, KF94 strongly preferred!
- a tote bag/backpack (optional, useful!)
If you are feeling sick or exhibiting any of the known symptoms of COVID-19 and its variants, please stay at home and rest! If you have not been vaxxed and boosted, please do so if you can. For maximum protection, please bring a mask — N95, KN95, KF94 are strongly advised. We will provide these masks to you when possible, but if you are able to bring your own, please do so.
