In the couple years before the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, the Mutual Aid Committee held a series of Free Brake Light Repair Clinics all over Los Angeles. At these clinics, we provide brake light replacement to anyone who needs it, free of charge, as many often don’t have access to the time, resources, or knowledge to replace their brake lights, as unfortunately broken tail lights are frequently used by cops as a pretext to pull folks over and force them into the carceral system. Over the last year and a half, our clinics have been on hiatus, as we’ve wanted to make sure we’re able to provide them without risking spreading COVID-19. However, at this point, with vaccinations and masks and reasonable social distancing procedures, we’re ready to dive back in.
Mutual Aid Free Brake Light Clinic Planning Meeting
July 18 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Come join the Mutual Aid Committee’s Free Brake Light Clinic Subcommittee as we discuss our next upcoming event in Leimert Park on Saturday, July 31 in partnership with that neighborhood’s Los Angeles Community Fridge. We’ll be updating everyone on the status of this event, and coming up with concrete ways for everyone to pitch in before, during, and after the event. Additionally, we’ll be leaving time to discuss how we keep up the momentum on this project by scouting out locations and community partners for future events.
