Measure ULA tackles LA’s housing issue in two ways: building more affordable housing, while ensuring folks have resources to stay in their homes. New affordable housing under the measure has strict cost provisions, like setting aside high percentages for families with incomes below $17,750. A portion of the funds will also prevent homelessness through immediate rental assistance aimed at keeping low-income individuals in their homes to begin with, as well as robust eviction defense The roughly $800 million annually the measure will generate will come only from those with private properties worth $5 million and above.

When passed, ULA will impose a one-time tax on properties sold at over $5 million dollars. In short, making the wealthy pay more to prevent and address homelessness! The way we win this is by making sure our neighbors understand what’s at stake, and that they won’t be financially impacted by the tax, but will see benefits from it
