An evening of stories of resistance against gentrification from Boyle Heights, to the LA 2028 Olympics, to Tokyo and beyond.

Hosted by NOlympics LA and co-sponsored by the Institute on Inequality and Democracy, this discussion on the opening of the “2020” Tokyo Disaster Games will investigate various forms of resistance against and negotiation with gentrifying forces, while connecting these voices from our various struggles, both locally and abroad.

Featuring members of Unhoused Residents Against Carceral Housing (UTACH), Street Watch, LA Tenants Union, Union de Vecinos and joined by Dr. Jules Boykoff, author of NOlympians: Inside the Fight Against Capitalist Mega-Sports in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Beyond.
