Please join DSA-LA’s Hollywood Labor for a screening of Soy Cuba (1964). A groundbreaking film praised for its formal innovations, Soy Cuba was unavailable to Western audiences for decades until the fall of the Soviet Union. Following the screening, we will have a round circle discussion on how to make Hollywood filmmaking more egalitarian. Our current filmmaking practices are driven by private equity and marked by rigid hierarchies. There’s got to be a better way.
This will be hosted at an outdoor space in Silverlake – we will send out the location to RSVPs of the event a week before the event!
