In March 2020, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, DSA launched a program called the Neighborhood Solidarity Network in order to connect our members with each other on a neighborhood-by neighborhood basis. It was incredibly successful in developing comradely relationships and making sure we could easily share updates about Chapter strategies.

Now, we’re expanding the program and re-branding it slightly.

Now, you’re invited to ORGANIZE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD WITH DSA-LA.

When we organize, a better world is possible

The basic component of this work is creating connections between neighborhood organizers and other members in their area, but that’s just the beginning. As we build these neighborhood connections, we encourage members to dream and strategize about what it means to build socialism on a hyper-local basis, while still staying connected to the chapter as a whole.

Maybe you’ll…

  • Form a rapid response network to defend people in your areas against illegal evictions
  • Plan and host neighborhood trivia nights, raising money to support a chapter campaign
  • Build relationships with other organizations who are working in your neighborhood too

Every neighborhood has unique stories and characteristics. Our chapter is creating this Neighborhood Organizing program in cooperation with all of our branches so that we can create a structure like the “central nervous system” for the chapter — allowing information to flow from your experiences on the ground to our chapter’s elected leaders; helping them make informed decisions about chapter priorities and strategies; and then allowing information about those strategies and Action Items to flow back out to all of our members.

Sign up now, and help us build the socialist LA we all dream of.
