Long-term residents who receive needed bicultural and bilingual care at their nursing home are being threatened by international developers who want to convert the elder care facility into apartments. The potential eviction of these Japanese seniors represents the intersecting problems of predatory capital, housing injustice, and a broken healthcare system that leaves many without needed long-term services and support. Worse yet, the developers plan to move the seniors from their “zero Covid facility” to one where 111 have tragically lost their lives.

DSA-LA’s Healthcare Justice Committee will be joining the “car picket” on Thursday, 2/25 at 11am. Make signs for your car with pro-Medicare-for-All and anti-eviction, anti-displacement, and anti-racist messages.

**This is an entirely socially-distanced protest! Plan to stay in your vehicle during the entire event. If you need to put signs on your car after exiting the freeway, please park away from the event site and do so there. Signs will be provided contactlessly at the event site by a volunteer if you do not have any. There will also be a paper provided with a phone conference link to listen to press conference speakers during the event.**
