DSA-LA Transit is joining ACT-LA and SAJE on July 27 to demand that Metro end fare collection for transit services.

July’s monthly Metro Board of Directors meeting marks the beginning of Mayor Karen Bass’s term as LA Metro board chair. The ACT-LA coalition, which has been pushing for fareless transit, is mobilizing to rally and demand that Bass, whose campaign platform included visions of universal fareless transit, deliver on her promises.

At last month’s DSA-LA chapter meeting, we voted to make abolishing fares on LA Metro a primary focus of our transit justice priority campaign. This meeting is a key opportunity for us to show Metro, Mayor Bass, and the greater transit justice movement in LA that we will hold city officials accountable in delivering on promises for fare-free transit.

The rally will happen at Metro Headquarters near Union Station, which is easily accessible via metro. Come join us in demanding fareless transit for all of LA, and wear red! 🌹
