DSA-LA’s Power to the Tenants priority campaign will be hosting a know your rights training on evictions on Sunday, October 15th at 10:30 AM. Residents across the city of LA are being served eviction notices, and this training will prepare you for inform residents who may have received evictions of their rights and how to navigate the eviction process to stay housed. After this, we’ll have two groups: one which will canvass to inform our neighbors of their rights, and a second which will involve deeper discussions about how to organize tenants where one lives.
Please RSVP to attend this training! Topics covered will be:
- How landlords exploit the eviction process to empty apartment units and how to stop them
- How tenants can file habitability and Rent-Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) complaints with LAHD online
- How to have organizing conversations around tenant issues
- A campaign timeline around the legislative agenda in the City Council, which will feature a large number of possible reforms this session to Code Enforcement, Tenant Anti-Harassment Ordinance, rent ceilings in RSO buildings, and more!
