During the pandemic, hotels received $15 billion in federal bailouts while they cut jobs and guest services like daily room cleaning. In 2023, hotel profits in Los Angeles have exceeded pre-pandemic levels, yet the workers who labor to create this profit continue to struggle to afford a place to live in the neighborhoods where they work.
